Ministry of Jesus 1 – TEST

The Seven ‘I Am’ sayings – Section 4

‘I AM’ reveals character, integrity, and purpose. ‘I AM’ shows us God in eternity and how it relates to us. ‘I AM’ was first introduced in the Bible in Exodus 3:14. “And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!”. So when Jesus, in John 8:58, said, “I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, before Abraham was born, I AM.”, the Jews knew exactly what He was saying. ‘I AM’ says volumes. What does it say??

I AM the bread of life. John 6:35 says, “Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).” God satisfies our deepest needs.

I AM the light. John 8:12 says, “Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life.” God leads us, guides us, and directs us. We should not wander aimlessly in this life from failure to failure. He is our light.

I AM the door. John 10:7 says, “So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that I Myself am the Door for the sheep.” If you read the previous verses Jesus is telling how the watchman opens the door, and the sheep listen to his voice and obey it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings leads them out. It goes on to say how the sheep know that voice so well that a voice of another they will not obey but will flee from a strangers voice. Hearing and knowing the voice of our Lord is everything to a Believer, without it, we can easily be led a strayed.

I AM the good shepherd. John 10:14 says,” I am the Good Shepherd; and I know and recognize My own, and My own know and recognize Me.” He is the GOOD shepherd. In verses 11 and 12 it says that the good shepherd risks and lays down His own life for the sheep, while a hireling will run when hard times come their way. It also speaks that when we are in ministry our job is to serve, not to be served.

I AM the Resurrection and the Life. John 11 talks of a story of Lazarus and Jesus says in verses 25 and 26, “Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live; And whoever continues to live and believes in (has faith in, cleaves to, and relies on) Me shall never [actually] die at all. Do you believe this?” John 5:24 goes on to say that whoever will listen, believe and trust and relies on the Lord will have eternal life and will not come into judgment but will pass over out of death into life.

I AM the way, the truth, and the life. John 14:6-7 says, “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by through Me. If you had known Me [had learned to recognize Me], you would also have known My Father. From now on, you know Him and have seen Him.

I AM the vine. John 15:1 says,” I AM the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser.” In verse 2 of John 15, “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” Religion will say of this verse that any branch that does not bear fruit will be thrown away. This is not what this is saying. This branch is IN Christ. “Taketh” in the Greek is airo which means to raise up, elevate, or lift up. So we read it as thus, “Every branch IN ME that breareth not fruit he will “raise up, elevate, or lift up”. In a vineyard the branches are held up on a trellis. Once in awhile the branches will fall and when this happens the vines keeper will come along and put it back on the trellis. It is the same for us!! There are times we fall but God will come along and lift us back up. Good news!!

In conclusion, when God says, I AM, it is saying volumes to us. It says I lift you up when you fall, I give you life and life abundantly, I give you direction and guidance, I give you care, hope, and protection from all evil. I AM says, “I love you.”

Relationship With God 2

God is NOT guilty!!

James 1:1-13 --(Amplified Bible)
1JAMES, A servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes scattered abroad [among the Gentiles in the dispersion]: Greetings ([a]rejoice)!
2Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.
3Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.
4But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.
5If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of [b]the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
6Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.
7For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord,
8[For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].
9Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his elevation [as a Christian, called to the true riches and to be an heir of God],
10And the rich [person ought to glory] in being humbled [by being shown his human frailty], because like the flower of the grass he will pass away.
11For the sun comes up with a scorching heat and parches the grass; its flower falls off and its beauty fades away. Even so will the rich man wither and die in the midst of his pursuits.(A)
12Blessed (happy, [c]to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.
13Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one.
  • God is NOT the one who sent the temptation.
  • You CAN learn through trials.
  • Problems did not come to perfect you.
  • Problems do not create patience.
  • The scripture gives us patience.
  • Patience will be tried.
Romans 15:4 ---(Amplified Bible) For whatever was thus written in former days was written for our instruction, that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope.

Mark 4:16-17 --And in the same way the ones sown upon stony ground are those who, when they hear the Word, at once receive and accept and welcome it with joy; And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away.

Resist the Devil!!  James 4:7-So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

  • No direct conflict between Jesus and the devil.  Jesus defeated the devil.
  • Satan comes against the Word of God and will do all that is possible to make sure that you do not get it in your heart.
  • If you are passive, satan will NOT flee.
  • Your passivity negates God's will and power in your life.
  • It is NOT God's will that anyone should perish. 2 Peter 3:9 (Amplified Bible)- The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people's conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.
  • The truth sets me free. 2 Corinthians 3:16-17 ---But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).
Blessed are you that endures temptation...
  • Lead us NOT into temptation.
IF IT IS LIFE, IT'S FROM GOD.  IF IT'S DEATH, ITS FROM THE DEVIL.

  • God does not tempt us with evil.  James 1:13
  • Your problems come from your own flesh.
2 Timothy 3:16 (Amplified Bible) --Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action),

  • Word of God is given to correct us.
  • Perfect means mature.
  • You do not have to have trials and tribulations to teach you.
  • Jesus never put sickness on a person.  He was the express image of God.  Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father do.
  • God is not the source of your problem.

  • God is for you and anything that is against you is the devil.
  • Father, if it be Your will, remove this is not right.  YOU are supposed to resist the devil.
  • Matthew 11:12 ---And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize--a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion].
  • What is of God, submit to that.  What is of the devil, resist that. (BUT you must know what is from God and what is from the devil to be able to resist and seize what is yours by force!!)
  • You have to hate what is from the devil.  Ex... I hate sickness.  I hate people dying early in age and of sickness.
